Instructions:
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine all the ingredients: 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, 1/2 cup of dark brown sugar, a small can of sweetened condensed milk, and 1/2 cup of light corn syrup.
- Place the bowl in the microwave and heat it for a total of 6 minutes. Be sure to pause every 2 minutes to give the mixture a good stir. This will help achieve a smooth consistency and prevent any hot spots.
- While the mixture is heating and stirring, prepare a greased pan for your butterscotch creation. You can select a square or rectangular pan based on your desired thickness.
- Once the 6 minutes are up, carefully remove the bowl from the microwave. The butterscotch should be hot and bubbling, so handle it with care as it will be extremely hot.
- Pour the hot butterscotch mixture into the greased pan, ensuring it’s evenly spread out.
- Allow the butterscotch to cool at room temperature. It will gradually solidify as it cools.
- Once the butterscotch has cooled and set, you can cut it into bite-sized pieces. Use a sharp knife or kitchen shears for this task.
- For a delightful finishing touch, wrap each butterscotch piece in wax paper. This not only adds an elegant touch but also prevents them from sticking together.
- Store your scrumptious homemade butterscotch delights in an airtight container to keep them fresh. Enjoy!
