Instructions:
- Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and 1 teaspoon of condensed milk. Sprinkle the yeast over the milk mixture and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes or until it becomes frothy. This indicates that the yeast is active.
- Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, the remaining condensed milk, melted butter, salt, and the activated yeast mixture. Crack the egg into the bowl as well. Using a wooden spoon or a stand mixer with a dough hook, combine all the ingredients until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth, elastic, and no longer sticky. You can also use a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment for this step.
- First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm, draft-free place for about 1-1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
- Shape the Loaf: Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release any trapped air. Turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a rectangle that’s approximately 9×5 inches.
- Second Rise: Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray. Place the shaped dough into the pan, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise for an additional 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the Oven: While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the Bread: Once the dough has risen in the loaf pan, bake it in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom. You can also use an instant-read thermometer; the internal temperature should be around 190-200°F (88-93°C).
- Cool and Enjoy: Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for a few minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slicing into this fluffy, sweet bread while it’s still slightly warm is a treat, but it’s also delicious when completely cooled. Enjoy your homemade Fluffy Condensed Milk Bread with a pat of butter or your favorite spread.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for a few days. This bread also makes fantastic toast for breakfast or a delightful sandwich with your favorite fillings.
