Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven: a. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). b. Grease an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) square baking pan or line it with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.

2. Melt the Butter: a. In a microwave-safe bowl or using a double boiler, melt the butter until it’s completely liquid. b. Allow the melted butter to cool slightly.

3. Mix the Wet Ingredients: a. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined. b. Pour the slightly cooled melted butter into the sugar mixture and stir until smooth.

4. Add the Cocoa Powder: a. Sift the unsweetened cocoa powder into the wet ingredients. b. Mix until the cocoa is fully incorporated, and the batter is smooth.

5. Combine the Dry Ingredients: a. In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder.

6. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: a. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. b. Stir until just combined; do not overmix.

7. Add Mix-Ins (Optional): a. If desired, fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts into the batter. b. This step adds extra richness and texture to your brownies.

8. Transfer to the Baking Pan: a. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan. b. Use a spatula to spread it evenly.

9. Bake: a. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. b. The brownies are ready when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs but no wet batter.

10. Cool and Cut: a. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 10-15 minutes. b. Use the parchment paper overhang (if used) to lift the brownies out of the pan. c. Place them on a wire rack to cool completely.

11. Slice and Serve: a. Once the brownies have cooled, cut them into 16 squares. b. Serve and enjoy your delicious fudge brownies!

Notes:

  • Customize your brownies by adding your favorite mix-ins such as white chocolate chips, caramel bits, or marshmallows.
  • For extra fudgy brownies, reduce the baking time slightly.
  • Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for a few days, or in the refrigerator for longer shelf life.

These fudge brownies are perfect for satisfying your chocolate cravings. Enjoy them with a glass of cold milk or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat!
