Instructions:

1. Prepare the Caramel Layer:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water over medium heat.
  2. Stir until the sugar has dissolved, then let it simmer without stirring.
  3. Continue cooking until the mixture turns into a golden caramel, swirling the pan occasionally.
  4. Pour the caramel into the bottom of a 9-inch fluted tube pan (bundt pan). Tilt the pan to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.

2. Make the Flan Layer:

  1. In a blender, combine the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract.
  2. Blend until smooth.
  3. Gently pour the flan mixture over the cooled caramel layer in the pan. Set aside.

3. Prepare the Chocolate Cake Layer:

  1. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until the batter is smooth.

4. Assemble the Chocoflan:

  1. Carefully pour the chocolate cake batter over the flan layer in the pan. The two layers will switch places during baking.
  2. Cover the pan with aluminum foil.

5. Bake:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place the fluted tube pan inside a larger roasting pan.
  3. Fill the roasting pan with hot water until it reaches about halfway up the sides of the fluted tube pan.
  4. Carefully transfer the whole setup to the preheated oven.
  5. Bake for 45-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the chocolate cake comes out clean.
  6. Remove from the oven and let the Chocoflan cool to room temperature.

6. Unmold and Serve:

  1. Once the Chocoflan has cooled, refrigerate it for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. To unmold, run a knife around the edges of the pan to loosen the Chocoflan.
  3. Place a serving plate over the top of the pan and quickly invert it to release the dessert. The caramel will create a beautiful sauce that drizzles over the cake.
  4. Slice and serve the Homemade Chocoflan. Enjoy!

This Homemade Chocoflan is a delightful combination of creamy flan and rich chocolate cake. It’s sure to impress your friends and family at any gathering.
