Yield: 12 rolls
Ingredients:
- 1 cup whole milk, warmed to about 110°F
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon salt
For the Cinnamon Butter:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
- Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the mixture, gently stirring. Allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, softened butter, egg, and salt. Pour in the activated yeast mixture. Using a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment or by hand, knead the dough until it’s smooth and elastic, about 7-10 minutes.
- First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until it has doubled in size.
- Forming Rolls: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball and place them in a greased baking dish, leaving a little space between each roll.
- Second Rise: Cover the rolls with a damp cloth and let them rise for an additional 30-45 minutes, allowing them to puff up.
- Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
- Make Cinnamon Butter: While the rolls are baking, prepare the cinnamon butter by mixing softened butter, powdered sugar, honey, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
- Serve: Once the rolls are out of the oven, brush the tops with a bit of melted butter and serve warm with the cinnamon butter on the side.
Note: For an authentic Texas Roadhouse experience, serve these rolls with a side of cinnamon butter, and enjoy the warm, fluffy goodness!
