These Cherry Bars are not only incredibly simple to whip up but also downright delectable. They are guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser among your friends and family.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cans (21 ounces each) cherry pie filling
GLAZE:
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 to 3 tablespoons whole milk
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream together butter, sugar, and salt until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla and almond extracts. Gradually add the flour.
- Spread 3 cups of the dough into a greased 15x10x1-inch baking pan. Evenly spread the cherry pie filling over the dough. Drop teaspoonfuls of the remaining dough over the filling.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
- In a small bowl, combine confectioners’ sugar, vanilla extract, almond extract, and enough milk to achieve your desired glaze consistency. Drizzle the glaze over the top.
