Ingredients:
- 2 lbs chicken wings, split at joints
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup hot sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
- Blue cheese dressing for serving
Instructions:
- Prepare the Chicken Wings:
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Toss the chicken wings in the flour mixture until evenly coated.
- Fry the Chicken Wings:
- In a large, deep skillet or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).
- Carefully add the coated chicken wings in batches and fry until golden brown and crispy, approximately 8-10 minutes per batch.
- Remove wings with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Prepare the Smothering Sauce:

- Allow the sauce to simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
- Smother the Chicken Wings:
- Place the fried chicken wings in a large mixing bowl.
- Pour the smothering sauce over the wings and toss until all the wings are coated evenly.
- Serve:
- Transfer the smothered wings to a serving platter.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
- Serve with a side of blue cheese dressing for dipping.
