Instructions:

For Biscuits:

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk. Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
  6. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits and place them on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.

For Gravy:

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
  2. Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir to combine, cooking for 1-2 minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to cook and stir until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Season the gravy with salt and black pepper to taste. Reduce heat and let it simmer for a few more minutes until it reaches your desired consistency.

Assembly:

  1. Split the warm biscuits in half.
  2. Ladle the creamy sausage gravy over the biscuits.
  3. Serve immediately and enjoy the best-ever biscuits and gravy!

  • Feel free to customize the recipe by adding herbs or spices to the biscuit dough or adjusting the seasoning in the gravy.
