Impossible Cheeseburger Pie Recipe

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.  Spray a 9-inch pie pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Brown the ground beef and bacon in a large skillet over medium heat. When the beef and bacon are about halfway browned, add the chopped onion. Continue cooking until the beef and bacon are browned, and the onion is soft.
  • Reduce the heat to low and add the garlic, cooking for a minute while stirring. Drain any excess grease. Remove from the heat and stir in the seasoned black pepper and ketchup. Let it cool for a few minutes.
  • Stir in the cheese and spoon the ground beef mixture into a deep dish pie pan.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the Bisquick Baking Mix, milk, and eggs. Pour the Bisquick batter over the hamburger cheese mixture and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the pie comes out clean. Let the pie cool for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • Don’t risk dropping your browned ground beef or bacon into the sink. Simply tilt the pan and use a paper towel to absorb the grease.
  • I use 80/20 ground beef because it cooks up less dry with more flavor.
  • Serve your choice of toppings on the side. I like to serve it with shredded lettuce, dill pickles, tomatoes, and onions.
  • You can substitute other kinds of cheese that melt well like Monterey Jack, Gouda, Swiss, Gruyere, Muenster, Provolone, mozzarella, and Colby Jack.
  • If desired sprinkle an extra layer of shredded cheese of the hamburger pie before baking.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave at a reduced power.
  • Freeze leftovers in a sturdy container for up to 2 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight and reheat in the microwave at a reduced power.
