TRIPLE CHOCOLATE CAKE

Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

For the Chocolate Ganache:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Make sure they are well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until the batter is smooth and no lumps remain.
  5. Stir in the semisweet chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and dark chocolate chips. The batter should be rich and chocolatey.
  6. Now, carefully add the boiling water to the batter and mix until smooth. The batter will be thin, but that’s normal.
  7. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then remove them from the pans and place them on a wire rack to cool completely.

For the Chocolate Ganache:

  1. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it’s just about to boil. Remove it from the heat.
  2. Place the semisweet chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate chips.
  3. Let it sit for a minute, then stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and glossy.

Assembly:

  1. Place one of the cooled chocolate cake layers on a serving plate.
  2. Pour a generous amount of the chocolate ganache over the top of the cake layer and let it drip down the sides.
  3. Carefully place the second cake layer on top and pour more ganache over it, letting it cascade down the sides.
  4. Use a spatula to spread the ganache evenly over the top of the cake and smooth it around the sides.
  5. If desired, decorate the cake with additional chocolate chips, chocolate shavings, or other chocolate decorations.
  6. Let the cake sit for a while to allow the ganache to set.
  7. Slice and serve this decadent Triple Chocolate Cake, and enjoy!
